How to wash a felt-tip pen from a child’s skin?

Parents should remember that washing a felt-tip pen from a child’s skin is much easier when it is water-based. In this case, it is sufficient to use warm water and a small amount of mild baby soap. If you make sure that the baby will use just such devices, there will be no problems with his subsequent “cleaning”.

The traces left by an alcohol marker or permanent marker are much more difficult to wipe. If the area of skin lesion is small, it is better to wait until the traces themselves come off as a result of exfoliation of the upper layer of the epidermis. In cases of significant coverage of the baby's skin with colored paint, it is better to use one of the proven and safe means, otherwise the components of the composition can soak into the tissues and this will not lead to anything good.

The safest, but very effective approaches

Regardless of what type of exposure is chosen, you need to act very carefully and consistently. One way does not help, wait until the baby's skin dries and try to do something else. It is strictly forbidden to combine ingredients from various formulations, even if individually they seem to be absolutely safe. First, the felt-tip pen should be tried by the simplest means with the minimum risk of irritation. These include the following:

  • Soap and very warm water. You can use both a solid bar and a liquid analogue of the product, the main thing is that it is hypoallergenic and suitable for the baby. In the first case, the stains are rubbed by the bar itself, in the second - with a dense washcloth. If it is not possible to wash everything the first time, we make several approaches with a break of at least half an hour.
  • Hand cream. It must be very oily and in no way moisturizing. It is good to remove the felt-tip pen and sunscreens. We apply the product to the contaminated area, wait 5-10 minutes, wash the product with a slightly damp sponge. If necessary, repeat the manipulation.

Tip: Whatever product is planned to be used, we begin the procedure by thoroughly washing the area with soap and water. This will remove the protective fat layer from the skin and increase the effectiveness of the chosen approach. After the desired result is achieved, be sure to treat the cleansed areas of the skin with a protective or moisturizing baby cream.

  • Makeup remover milk. We take a cotton pad, moisten it with milk and with careful movements try to wipe the felt-tip pen from the skin of the baby. This is the best option if the baby has managed to piss on his face. We remove the remains of the product with a clean cloth, wash the child no earlier than half an hour later (this will get rid of almost imperceptible paint residues).

All of these methods are equally effective against traces of felt-tip pen, ballpoint pen and marker.

What to do with very persistent spots?

If the listed compounds do not help, and you need to rinse off the felt-tip pen urgently, you can try any of the following approaches:

  • Antiseptic. We apply the composition directly to the traces of paint and wipe them with a soft cloth or napkin for half a minute. After that, rinse the skin with water and dry.
  • Salt. This option is not suitable for treating very delicate skin, for example, on the face. First, we soak the area for 10 minutes (you can even take a bath), after which we apply very fine salt to the still wet skin and gently rub in for several seconds. Can be repeated up to three times.
  • Alcohol. Wet a cotton swab with alcohol and apply to the picture. After a few seconds, he should lighten or even go down. Do not rub anything!

It is worth considering that when working with delicate baby skin, it is forbidden to use such effective agents as boric acid and nail polish remover. It is better to spend a little more time, but to wash the product without risk.

Unusual methods to remove traces

There are several non-standard ways to deal with specific pollution. They are not so often used, but in practice, the approaches have proven themselves only from the best side.

  • Coconut or butter. We take a piece of oil, slightly warm it in our hands and apply it to the surface of the skin, slightly rubbing the painted areas. Leave for 3 minutes, after which we take a soft washcloth and try to wash off the remaining paint. Next, use warm soapy water to remove greasy marks.
  • Insect spray. The repellent that is suitable for the child is simply sprayed onto the surface of the skin where the felt-tip pen remains. After 10 seconds, we begin to rub the composition with a cotton pad, and then wash it off with warm water and soap.
  • Wet wipes. It can be antiseptic products, hygienic or profile for removing makeup. The main thing is not to rub their skin for too long and after treatment it is imperative to rinse the cleaned place.
  • Toothpaste. We moisten the place of pollution with warm water, apply white toothpaste abundantly without additives (it is good if it is a product with red or blue, and not black marking on the tail of the tube). After three minutes, thoroughly rub the area with a wet washcloth and wash everything off with clean water.
