Overview of anti-limescale products

Scale is the worst enemy of any technique, whether it is a washing machine, kettle or a large boiler in the bathroom. That is why protection from scale is becoming a priority for all responsible housewives and housewives. Today we will look at the means and methods by which this most important task can be accomplished, as well as give some tips that will facilitate it.

How and why to protect the surface from scale?

Those “lucky” who have already had to get rid of hard water precipitation understand that it is very difficult: you have to remember how the substances react, i.e. plunge into the depths of your knowledge, and then put it into practice. In addition, the scale is disgusting that it destroys the surface, makes it unstable to further damage, and this certainly does not play into the hands of the owners: even serious incidents are possible. In a word, if it is possible to protect the boiler, kettle or something else from scale, it is advisable to do this.

Limescale protection measures vary and depend on the device for which they are designed. For example, in irons, most often the plant installs its own system, which is required to last for many years (at least - the warranty period). For boilers also have their own devices, but they are already purchased separately. Washing machines can be protected by special substances that can be purchased at any hardware store, for example, Kalgon. Let's look at each of the tools or devices we mentioned in more detail.

Scale boiler protection

Scale boiler protection

The boiler, regardless of its size and purpose, must be protected in order to prevent explosion due to corrosion. For this, there are special devices that are connected to one of the working sections of the boiler (on the pipe through which water enters the boiler). In the future, the process may be different - it depends on the method of exposure of the device to water. For example, in Russia, magnetic treatment of water is very often used. The main advantage of this method of water softening is low cost. In addition, this method is ecologically absolutely safe, because the magnet cannot get out of control and isolate any substances dangerous to humans and / or nature. Magnetic treatment operates as follows: when magnetic waves act on water, its structure changes - the crystal lattice is rebuilt, heavy substances are displaced from the water, which, although they settle on the surface, can be easily removed - they do not stick, they only cling to the walls , like a raft lost in a river to the shore.

However, a magnetic processing system requires compliance with several conditions.

  1. The temperature of the water when heated can in no case rise to 95 degrees Celsius
  2. The content of sulfates and chlorides in total should not exceed 50 mg / l.
  3. The oxygen content should not exceed 3 mg / l.
  4. Carbonate hardness cannot be higher than 9 mg / l.
  5. The content of ferrous iron should not exceed 0.3 mg / L.

Based on magnetic processing systems, at the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries a new, more progressive idea of electromagnetic action on heavy impurities appeared. The idea is that during processing, only those substances are displaced from the water that can be harmful both to technology and to man, but at the same time such useful substances as magnesium and calcium remain in the required quantity. The electromagnetic exposure system is more expensive, but it acts much softer, consumes less energy and is generally more progressive than previous devices.

Tip

Never neglect limescale protection. A corroded surface becomes a “time bomb”: no one can answer at what point the pressure on a worn wall will exceed the limit and an explosion will occur. Agree, safety is more expensive than any of the units described in the article.

Means for protecting the washing machine from scale

Anti-scale washing machines

For many years, every day we hear from television screens that the water in our pipes is so harsh that the washing machine, as soon as it is connected, immediately crumbles to dust. Of course, this is far from the case, but many breakdowns do occur due to hard water. Damage to the washing machine always happens at the wrong time, and therefore becomes another reason for the upset of the owners. Therefore, it will not be superfluous from time to time to add during washing any substances that can protect the machine from scale. It can be either the advertised “Kalgon” or its less well-known counterparts, for example, “Master Shine”. By the way, many washing machines nowadays have their own anti-scale system, which simplifies the task for the owners.

Some descaling tips

Many people, reading our article, probably with sadness realize that their household appliances are far from perfect and also have scale inside somewhere. We hasten to reassure you: our recommendations are easy to follow even now, you just have to descale your equipment using improvised means: pour citric acid into the washing machine (about the same amount as usual powder) and carry out the washing cycle at maximum temperature. Cleaning boilers, of course, will be much more complicated, but because we advise you to contact the profile company, which will send a specialist to help. Independently, you can simply damage the boiler, and buying a new one, of course, will cost much more than a professional descaling.

So, we have discussed ways and means that we hope will help you choose the right anti-scale system. Remember: the protection of boilers, washing machines, irons, kettles and other daily helpers is very important, because no one wants to wake up one day and understand that there is no hot water, you can’t wash anything, the clean clothes that are left out are not warm, and in general everything is very bad. Pay attention to your technology so that it reciprocates in the form of smooth operation.
