How to install a mosquito net on a plastic window: simple and reliable ways

Installing a mosquito net on a plastic window is a simple task, any home master can handle it. There are several reliable and effective installation methods - on loops, on flags, on corners and even on Velcro. There are removable nets and stationary, with and without protection. We will talk about the most popular and simple methods of fastening - they can be used both on euro-windows and on ordinary wooden ones.

Mosquito net angles

To the corners

Corners, they are pockets or ears, are removable plastic grooves. Choose them in the color of the frame, so that visually the frame and pocket seemed to be one. Pockets are placed on the outside of the window.

This method of attachment is quite reliable - the mesh does not fall out of the grooves, it does not warp and will not be ripped off by the wind. But if you often take off the net - for example, to release a cat - it is better to choose another option.

To install a mosquito, you need:

  • buy 4 pockets;
  • try on a grid on the window, outline the corners of the frame with a pencil;
  • fasten the lower pockets (with low sides) precisely along the intended borders;
  • top (with high sides) slide 1-1.5 centimeters up and secure. The displacement height slightly exceeds the height of the sides of the lower grooves. But at the same time, the net placed in the lower corners should not fall out of the upper.

To hang the mosquito on the window, insert it into the upper slots and lift it up to the stop. Place the net exactly over the bottom corners and lower it.

In order not to be mistaken in the calculations, first attach the lower pockets, then insert a grid into them and only after that mark the location of the upper ones.

If you did everything correctly, the upper and lower ears will firmly hold the structure.

Hinged mosquito net

On the hinges

This option is ideal for a balcony door, but it is often used on windows. This is especially useful if you often take off the grid. The frame simply opens - just like a regular window sash. In the closed position it holds a special latch.

DIY loops are easy to install:

  1. lean the grid against the frame and outline the contours;
  2. on the one side of the frame, outline the places where the loops will be located, on the other - the holder for the latch;
  3. screw the hinges to the frame and fix the mesh on them;
  4. on the other side of the window fix the holder with screws;
  5. put the latch on the grid, its handle should be located on the inside, and the tongue - on the outside.

Flag mosquito net

To the flags

There are 2 types of flags:

  • small metal Z-shaped fasteners;
  • L-shaped parts made of PVC.

Hanging a mosquito on the flags is simple: fix the elements on the window frame - 2 on the top and two on the bottom. If strong winds are blowing in your area, check 6 boxes for reliability. Arrange them so that when you turn the plates tightly pressed the grid to the window. The rotary axis for the plate is a self-tapping screw.

This design is incredibly simple, making it yourself is easy. But the flags break quickly, especially plastic ones. In addition, it is difficult to restore the fasteners - the self-tapping screws will begin to fall out of the loose grooves. This option is only suitable for those who rarely remove the mesh from the windows.

Velcro mosquito net

Velcro

It is possible to fasten mesh fabric on a flypaper. It sounds strange, but this economical method is very convenient, especially for those who often remove protection from windows.

To fix the fabric on the frame yourself, stock up:

  • Velcro textile fastener - it is sold in any sewing store;
  • dense mesh fabric;
  • reliable glue or glue gun, if any.

The installation procedure is extremely simple:

  1. measure the perimeter of the window and cut off the Velcro strips of the desired length;
  2. degrease the frames;
  3. stick on them part of the textile fastener with micro hooks;
  4. on the prepared panels of mesh fabric around the perimeter, glue the tape with microloops.

Done. Now you just need to combine the strips of textile fasteners.

There is also a simpler option - stick the grid on a regular double-sided adhesive tape. This is a one-time option, but very fast and inexpensive. But such a design is very unreliable - it will be ripped off by the first strong gust of wind.

Mosquito net on magnets

On magnets

This method is very similar to the option with Velcro, but instead of adhesive tape we use magnetic clips:

  1. Buy magnetic fasteners - at least 6 pieces.
  2. Divide them into halves.
  3. Glue one half of the elements to the window frame and the other to the grid.
  4. To hang a mosquito, simply align the halves of the fasteners so that they “stick together”.

Mosquito net plunger

Plungers

The plunger mount is one of the most reliable. The design is fastened with spring clips, they are installed directly in the frame of the mosquito net. The free end they are securely fixed in the window frame. To do this, drill holes in the profile in those places where the plungers abut.

To prevent dust from entering the house, it is advisable to additionally glue the structure around the perimeter with a sealant.

Making a plunger structure can be a problem for an inexperienced craftsman. In addition, the light opening will decrease slightly.

Lift mosquito net

Roleta

The most convenient option is roleta. He is the most expensive. Another disadvantage is the complexity of the design: not everyone can install it correctly.

Usually they buy a ready-made rolling system, selecting it according to the width of the window opening. A tightly wound roll of mesh fabric is installed inside the structure.

Roleta is fixed at the top of the window outside. To close the insect opening, you just need to pull the cord, unwinding the mosquito net. Below it is attached with a special latch. To open the window, you need to open the latch fasteners and gently pull the fabric up.

There are horizontal blinds, they are called pleated. Here, the fabric is not twisted into a roll, but assembled into small vertical folds. Plisse are ideal for sliding balcony frames.

If a cat lives in your house, install only special anti-cat nets. They are more expensive, but safer. An animal can easily squeeze or tear an ordinary mosquito. In the best case, you will be looking for a pet for a long time in the yard. In the worst case, the animal will be injured from a fall or die. Be careful, do not save on the health of the pet.

Follow these simple tips and you won’t have to call the wizard. Without much difficulty, you install the grid on the windows yourself.
