How to dry wash clothes at home?

Dry cleaning clothes at home is not such a difficult task, any housewife can cope with it. Of course, washing with water using a powder is more common. However, this stain removal method is not suitable for delicate items. In order not to spoil the product, you should carefully study the label, and if you see the label “dry cleaning”, do not risk it and wash it with water and powder. The “dry cleaning is prohibited” icon may be present on the label, then there is no other option but to do dry cleaning yourself.

So, what is needed to complete the task?

  • A special washing machine that has a drying function. Clothes in this unit are treated with warm air.
  • Dry cleaning kit. It usually contains: stain remover, cover, scented and moistened wipes. If the cover is not included in the package, you should independently purchase a washing bag. It will protect clothes from stretching, wear and exposure to warm air.

There are also dry wash kits consisting of a drying gel, the particles of which are then simply shaken off the fabric.

Delicate fabric

What clothes are recommended to be dried?

Delicate fabrics include:

  • natural silk;
  • natural wool (angora, cashmere);
  • thin cotton and linen;
  • some types of rayon (triacetate);
  • fine knitwear;
  • velvet;
  • faux and natural suede and leather.

If clothes have complex decor elements, such as hand embroidery, beading, sequins or rhinestones, they can be damaged when washed in the machine, even in delicate mode. Household dry cleaning will keep the original appearance of the thing. It is recommended to use dry washing in cases where the thing is your favorite and you want to extend its service life as long as possible. This treatment has a significant advantage: there is no need to remove buttons, belts, shoulder pads and other elements.

How to wash yourself?

Before dry washing, items should be sorted. The rules here are common: do not put together white and colored things, knitted and silk fabrics. Fleeces and lint may fall onto clothing from a different fabric, and you will need extra effort to remove them. It is also best to put things about the same size and weight in the laundry bag.

Particularly contaminated places are preferably treated with stain remover before being placed in the drum of a washing machine. Nevertheless, it should not be applied immediately to a large spot; it is not known how its composition will affect the tissue. After all, not all of them are painted with durable colors, and it may happen that you get a faded thing instead of clean and fresh clothes.

Usually gentle stains are used to remove stains, which gently cleanse the tissue without harming it. But still, it is better not to risk it and experiment before using the tool. The stain remover is tested on an inconspicuous area, for example, under the belt, on the inside of the pocket or on the seam tape. The swab is moistened with a stain remover and a small piece of tissue is wiped. If everything is in order, you can start the process of dry washing at home.

Important!

Before using the product for home cleaning, carefully read the instructions.

Dry wash
The rules for dry washing consist of four important points.

  1. Place prepared items in a safety bag. Do not drive it completely, leave some space.Things should be accessible for handling warm air. Products made from delicate fabrics are turned inside out.
  2. Put napkins in a bag. They contain sufficient moisture and deodorizing conditioner. In the process of processing dry air, moisture evaporates, which allows you to refresh clothes and prevent them from drying out. A small amount of moisture also helps to straighten existing creases and creases on things
  3. Turn on the "drying" mode on your washing machine. Use the lowest air temperature and the minimum processing time. Usually the timer is set for 30 minutes.
  4. After the end of the cycle, it is recommended to hang the clothes on their shoulders so that they do not lose their shape.

It is not always possible to get rid of complex, old spots at home, in this case you will have to use the services of a professional dry cleaning service.

Bran

Removing stains with home remedies

Not all housewives use household chemicals; today more and more people prefer home cleaning methods. Here are some recipes.

  • Sand. Some products can not be cleaned with a chemical compound, such as a natural fur coat. It can be cleaned with fine sand. It must be heated, and then poured onto a fur product, spread with your hands over the entire surface. After half an hour, the sand is shaken off, and dirt is also removed with it. After dry cleaning, comb the fur coat with a comb. The sand can be used to treat overgrown areas on woolen things, remove it with a brush.
  • Dry wash bran. They can clean the fur product according to the rules outlined above. Bran is also used to remove stains from clothes that have embroidery. They are diluted in a strong soapy solution to the state of slurry and applied to the tissue. Rub the product with your hands for several minutes and shake off the mass. Then dry bran is poured onto the stain and the process is repeated.
  • Starch, soda, salt have good absorbent properties. With the removal of fat stains, talcum powder does an excellent job. It is poured onto a contaminated site, tracing paper is put on top and ironed.

So, in caring for things from delicate fabrics, there are several radically different approaches, and which one is more suitable for home use is up to you. The main thing is to remember caution and not abuse chemicals.
