4 ways to gently fold a sheet on an elastic band

Stretch sheets are a convenient solution. They do not need to be constantly refueled, because they are securely fixed on the mattress without sliding off it. But such products have a slight drawback. The problems begin when it comes time to put the linen away for storage: it turns out that folding a sheet with an elastic band is not an easy task. Fortunately, the problem is solvable. Moreover, there are several ways to do this correctly.

Elastic sheet

Method One: Easy

You can carefully fold the sheet according to this scheme:

  1. Lay on a flat surface so that the wrong side is on top.
  2. Fold the edges with the elastic inward.
  3. Start folding the rest of the fabric from the edges to the center, limiting each bend with the edges of the gum.
  4. Fold the fabric in half, along the “seam” in the middle. At this point, you should get a rectangle.
  5. Then you can fold along or across, one or several times - it all depends on your preferences and the size of the fabric.

This method is the easiest and fastest. In addition, it does not require any dexterity, as it resembles standard bedding.

Method Two: Popular

It is beautiful to fold a small knitted sheet (for example, from a children's bedding set) according to this algorithm:

  1. Turn the sheet inside out and fold it in length.
  2. Put your fingers to the upper and lower criminal seam (the corners that you hold should be on one side).
  3. Throw one of the corners that you had in your hands onto the second so that the front of the sheet is on the outside. At this stage, you should get 2 loops: the upper one, which you just folded, and the lower one, free.
  4. Holding the upper loop, repeat the previous paragraph with the corners remaining from below, that is, throw them on top of each other. The result is again looped on each side, but this time each consists of folded corners.
  5. Put your hand into the lower loop from the inside and tuck this part of the fabric under the upper loop so that the front of the lower loop touches the inside of the upper.
  6. Take the fabric by the bend with both hands, shake it lightly and lay it on a flat surface.
  7. To give shape to the matter, you need to fold the elastic band, which should be on two edges, in the form of the letter L.
  8. Spread the folds with your hands and fold the sheet several times from the edges to the center. You should get a rectangle.
  9. Now the matter can be folded in half one or several times - depending on its size or your preferences - and once again straighten the extra folds with your hands.

Since this method involves folding on weight, it may not be very convenient if the sheet is large.

Sheets rolled up

The third method: universal

  1. Fold the fabric on a horizontal surface.
  2. Take one of the corners of the sheet and insert it into the opposite corner on the same side.
  3. Repeat the previous step with the remaining corners.
  4. Spread the creases with your hands.
  5. Tighten the edge with the elastic slightly.
  6. Take the material by the narrow side and roll it into a tight roll.

Bed linen laid in this way can be stored both horizontally and vertically. For reliability, you can bandage the roll with any thread or tape.

Method Four: Original

This method is convenient if the laundry is stored where children can easily get it. In the event of a fall, the folded sheet will remain in its original form.

Add “envelope” according to this algorithm:

  1. First of all, you need to fold the fabric in half - on the longest side, with the elastic up.
  2. Lay the folded sheet on a horizontal surface.
  3. Pull one of the edges to the middle of the matter, then cover it with the remaining edge.
  4. Starting from the top, fold the sheet down to half and repeat the same action with the remaining fabric (starting, again, from the top). At this point, you should get a small rectangle.
  5. Spread the fabric with your hands so that there are no creases, and turn it over to the other side.
  6. Fold one end to the middle. If you raise the edges of the fabric, you should get a pocket.
  7. Fill the rest of the sheet in the pocket and, if necessary, straighten your hands.

A stretched sheet folded in this way will look just like a regular sheet. This is quite convenient when storing both types together.

Nuances and Tips

Properly folded bed linen not only does not take up less space during storage, but also retains an attractive look longer.

The first and second of the described methods are ideal for thin synthetic fabrics. Thick cotton can also be folded like this, of course. But be prepared for the fact that it will look, though neatly, but quite voluminously.

Large sheets, 140x200 and more, are more convenient to fold not on weight, but on a horizontal surface.

Folding a sheet with an elastic band

Do not fold bedding immediately after ironing. Let it cool down beforehand.

So that the edges of the sheets do not stick out, they can be ironed further after the material is folded.

It turns out that it is not so difficult to fold a stretch sheet compactly. Each of the above methods provides convenient storage and prevents tissue from wrinkling. Try different options, choose your favorite - and go! Having folded a sheet on an elastic band several times, you will easily learn to do this quickly and effortlessly.
