Why do they say that you can not mix boiled water with raw?

Older people know that you can’t dilute raw water with boiled water - there will be an intestinal upset. No one really knows where the belief came from. Today there are several theories about the prohibition of mixing, but none of them is scientific.

Checking tap water

Why not?

According to legend, if you mix raw and boiled water, the following can happen:

  • diarrhea;
  • nausea;
  • vomiting
  • stomach ache;
  • decreased immunity and the development of various chronic diseases.

A variety of theories explain health damage. Consider the main ones:

  • “The body does not understand what they are given to it, because boiled water is dead, and unboiled water is living.” It is believed that boiling neutralizes all beneficial substances. But in reality, the raw water from the healthy contains mainly salts. After boiling, their concentration decreases slightly, but they do not completely disappear. That is, the statement about "dead" water is a myth.
  • “Raw water has a memory, but boiled water does not. When mixed, the liquid becomes inhomogeneous and harmful. " Talk about memory has been going on for quite some time. But no evidence of this has been found. Often behind them is a banal fraud with the sale of vodice, charged for success (luck, from certain diseases, etc.).
  • “Mixed water has a salt composition that can cause diarrhea.” A certain composition of salts can really act as a laxative. But in ordinary water, salts cannot combine in this way.
  • "Once in disinfected boiled water, microorganisms from raw water multiply at a catastrophic rate." In fact, the growth of bacteria is affected by heat and a nutrient medium (sugar). But even under favorable conditions, infection will take some time. Warm sweet tea with the addition of unboiled water will deteriorate after about 4 hours.

Most likely, the warning came from ancient times, when drinking water was collected from rivers and wells. Using it without boiling was dangerous. The liquid was disinfected by boiling. Adding a raw portion neutralized the whole effect - the water was again filled with microorganisms and could cause an intestinal upset or infection.

Filtered tap water

Or is it still possible?

All the arguments about the dangers of mixing boiled and raw drinking have no scientific justification. Moreover, they are doubtful in terms of simple logic. In fact, the result of such actions is only one - boiled water, when diluted with crude, becomes unboiled again.

  • In terms of disinfection dilution of boiled water without boiling does not make sense and neutralizes the entire effect of heat treatment. If the crude liquid contains viruses and bacteria, then they will be transported and multiply. Even a small amount of infected liquid is enough to spoil the boiled water. However, it is not a fact that it contains harmful microorganisms. Chlorination and filtration used in the modern world make it potable.
  • In terms of compositional changes dilution of raw boiled water practically does not affect the concentration of impurities. When heated, chlorine leaves with the steam, and the salts are converted to scale and deposited on the heating elements. Adding raw water leads to the fact that the composition again appears impurities that came out during heat treatment.

It turns out that the question of whether it is possible to mix boiled and raw water is similar to the question of whether it is possible to drink unboiled water. If it is clean and filtered, then why not.

So, the statement that boiled and raw water should not be interfered is a belief that has no scientific evidence. When mixed, the liquid again becomes crude with all the ensuing consequences. It is not dangerous for health, unless the water is drawn from a river or other dubious source.In fact, many people dilute tea with cold unboiled water and do not observe diarrhea or any other negative effects.

    As you accustom your intestines, so be it. As a child, I always diluted it, and nothing, everything was in order.
    I can drink a glass of milk after pickles or herring, and everything will be fine.

      A terrible habit. I just imagine, cook, try, I picked up the broth, salt, seasonings, and then a miracle and a bang come in a borsch of water. Do not forget to grunt.

      Soups and sauces often lose fluid - it is either absorbed or distributed unevenly by family members. And if the soup / sauce is quite saturated, then it can be diluted with raw water, and then boiled. Nothing terrible will happen.

      In the good old days, water could be drunk from springs, and from lakes, and from rivers, and from a well, and
      rain, and snow, and even from a well-settled Puddle !!! Alas, times have changed: waste, burial grounds, pesticides, production, etc. I even defend the plumbing with a silver spoon and pass it through some kind of filter. Aquaphor, barrier, etc. This is not ADVERTISEMENT but a statement of fact)) Good luck!

    Thermopot has 3 types of temperatures. I heat up to 85, and there I make tea. Tea is just lovely. I make tea 4 times. The next day I add water to a 5 liter thermopot, and again to 85. Everything is alright. Guys buy a thermopot of 5 liters, and do not worry ...

    Recently, he thought to himself whether it would be possible to distinguish pure water from one source (normal salinity), but boil one part, the other not, and then bring it to one temperature. We don’t take broth from bacteria into account, but the gas ratio will change, which can affect the taste. Everything else is bikes)))

    If the memory of water is unscientific, then your science is unscientific. I guarantee in the experiment, the brutal beating of the body of anyone who wants, by the means of using charged, systemic poisons of water. All responsibility is yours. Who is willing? It would be especially great if the doctor responded.

    It turns out that the author does not “succeed” everything. Upon boiling, all soluble impurities turn into insoluble. But while the water remains boiled, insoluble impurities remain in suspension and, when ingested, do not cause much harm to the body. As soon as you have diluted the boiled water “raw”, all the suspensions begin to stick together and settle. Look inside the kettle, in which “raw” was added to boiled water and evaluate the thickness of the scale, the same thing happens in the digestive tract.

      It’s interesting, scale, it’s salt when boiling, does your stomach deal with boiling? What kind of scum can there be? In the digestive tract, if you consume a lot of salts, it goes into sand and stones, but this is due to Tim's attitude to all foods. If you drink boiled water, but prefer to eat salty food, then you still have stones

    The only thing I know about boiled water is that it does not have oxygen, but it’s the same as other gases, but it’s only right after boiling, after cooling to room temperature, the gases dissolve to some extent in water again, but what This is not carbonated water affects the body, I do not know. however, like any fabrications like the memory of water, it looks a lot like Chumak’s passages in front of the camera,

    In Soviet times — while serving in the army, they brought our battalion to Minsk (Belarus), but the local canteen didn’t count — the soup began to run out at distribution, the young cook poured raw water into the tank with soup for volume. The entire 5-storey barracks where we were settled was “laid out,” lines on all 5 floors, until they brought a tank with divorced potassium permanganate and watered everyone.

    Most likely the fact is that boiled water remains warm for a long time, and if you add raw water with bacteria to it, then they fall in favorable conditions (heat) and multiply rapidly.

    After mixing the filtered unboiled and boiled cooled water, there will be no particular difference. Another thing is if pouring unfiltered water into a warm boiled nutrient medium (soup, compote ...) and letting this soup ripen for 3-4 hours.This peculiar Petri dish may certainly not work. If you're lucky…

      And so you do not get microorganisms in the soup? Immediately after boiling, put it in a vacuum? Products have an expiration date, due to the bacteria in them.
