How to repair the cover of different models of the Redmond multicooker

The lid is one of the most vulnerable places in any multicooker, including Redmond. The latch is activated at least 2 times for each cooking, on the gasket, aluminum inner lid and under them gradually accumulates fat. Therefore, approximately two to three times a month, it is recommended to disassemble the lid of the Redmond multicooker and clean all its parts.

Lid parts

The multicooker lid must be disassembled. This is important in order to facilitate the maintenance and repair of the appliance. In older models, a thermistor was attached between the two split halves, which was responsible for turning off the device if the lid was overheated.

The main details of the cover:

  • case
  • inner (usually aluminum) cover,
  • removable steam valve
  • handle or key with lock.

In a number of models SkyCooker M40S the handle is made in the form of an arc, attached to the lid with metal "ears" on the outside and screws on the back of the lid. More modern snap locks.

How to disassemble and remove the cover

Models with a removable handle (for example SkyCooker M40S):

  1. Turn and remove the steam valve.
  2. Insert a plastic card, widening the gap between the top and aluminum covers.
  3. Slide the card into the slot until it clicks. Sound means the card pushed the latch.
  4. Insert the second card and remove the second stop.
  5. Remove the first card and squeeze out the remaining two clips.
  6. Separate the plastic cover.
  7. Lay the appliance back up and remove the condensate container. It can be removed simply, without a click or screws. Under it is a stub hiding a loop and wires.
  8. Loosen the screws in the plug and remove it.
  9. Lift the cover and pull the metal bar out of the holders.

In such models, a thermistor is placed under the aluminum panel of the inner cover. It is attached to double-sided tape or glue and covered with foil. The wires from it (blue in a white additional braid and yellow-earth) pass under the plug, go down into the case and stretch to the board located at the bottom of the structure.

The wires are constantly bent and often broken, which leads to the error "E2". The slow cooker turns on, understands the commands, but stops warming up, giving a failure message immediately after pressing the "Start" key.

Models with a key on an example Redmond RMC-M4500:

  1. To clean the steam valve, remove the plastic box on top of the cover.
  2. Then - remove the valve from it and rinse both components.
  3. The aluminum cover on the models of this series is fastened with screws - they need to be unscrewed to remove the part.

The cover is latched thanks to a key-valve, which is mounted in a recess on the housing with two spikes. The latter quite often break or fray. As noted by the masters on the forums, this is “planned wear”, forcing buyers to change the device to a more modern one.

Redmond RMC-M70:

  1. The valve is dismantled in the same way as the previous model.
  2. The aluminum insert is mounted on two clamps. They need to be wrung out simultaneously or in turn, and the lid can be easily removed.

Model Redmond RMC-250:

  1. Remove the aluminum cover by squeezing the three clips around the circumference.
  2. Take out the steam valve. The difference between the model is that this part is located inside, and not outside. Once in place, the valve should snap into place.

How to fix a key lock

Since the key is mounted on two spikes, the most logical in case of their failure is to increase the protrusions. To do this, wire is fused into the key or nails / self-tapping screws suitable in length and diameter are driven.

An easier way is to put screws on the cover or glue metal plates, and small flat magnets of sufficient traction force to the body.

Modern models of Redmond multicookers are disassembled as simple as possible. The manufacturer recommends regularly removing and washing the steam valve and aluminum inner cover. Older models are more sophisticated, but in very affordable ways. Take care of the multicooker in time so that it does not spoil the aroma of dishes and lasts longer.
